APG Membership Drive is On.

Happy New Year everyone. It’s that time of year for our annual Membership Drive. Many of you will soon be receiving a letter from Dee with a membership/renewal form. I hope that you will again help support us with your donation/membership. 2019 was another great year for us in supporting preservation. Below is Chairman Jon Harbuck’s letter, also included in our mailings, for details on the past year.

“Dear Members and Friends,

It is time once again to thank you for your support in years past, and to solicit your support for the coming year.

The incoming year 2020 will mark the Fifteenth Anniversary of the APG, and we hope to make it one to remember.  But it is not too late to summarize the good work our organization did in 2019.  We funded the restoration of a militia musket from the Battle of Fort Ticonderoga, a relic owned by the Sons of the American Revolution and destined for display in their new museum in Louisville KY.  We donated money for preservation of a section of the Hanging Rock battlefield in South Carolina, and by years’ end we had donated a total of $21,000 to the American Battlefield Trust.  And we set in motion the process for two major 2020 projects: Restoring two unique pieces of headgear belonging to the South Carolina Relic room, and funding the Park Service’s restoration of a kepi worn by a Georgia Infantry officer mortally wounded in the 1864 Atlanta Campaign.  (See below.)

I am most proud to note that APG has been named by the American Battlefield Trust to its “Trust 300” group, in recognition of more than $100,000 in donations by the APG over the years.  To be included in such an elite group is the measure of the APG’s overwhelming effect.  As I wrote to you before, we punch above our weight.

I hope each of you will renew your support for the work we do, by renewing your APG membership for 2020.  Dues are only $30 for the year, and you may receive your membership card either by mailing in the enclosed form with your dues, or else renewing online at www.artistpreservationgroup.com

Finally, I hope you will join us at the Atlanta Miniature Figure Show, next February 21-24.   This will be a joint APG/AMFS Show, similar to shows we have held in conjunction with MFCA in years past.  Activities will include a painting workshop by Doug Cohen (space limited), a Park Service tour of the Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield (including a viewing of the pre-restored kepi that APG has taken on as a project), and seminars and special awards.

Thank you each in advance, best wishes for the new year, and I hope to see you in Atlanta!

                          Jon Harbuck,  Chairman

If you aren’t a member or haven’t renewed for a while you can go to the Membership page on our site and renew there. Of course if you did receive the form in the mail you too can go to the site and renew. https://artistpreservationgroup.com/membership/

And again we will be holding a raffle at the end of the drive at the end of February. For each new membership or renewal we will give you a ticket for the raffle. We are starting to build the list of prizes and I think it will be a very nice collection.

Thanks for all of your support. I look forward to hearing from you again.

Mike Stelzel
