This week the APG answered the call from the American Battlefield Trust to help preserve parcels of land at 3 Virginia battlefields, with a donation of $5000. The battlefields, a total of 52 acres at Second Manassas, Reams Station, and Cumberland Church are all under threat of development. Once again the ABT has stepped in to prevent the ground from being lost forever.
“The total transaction value for these three crucial tracts is $1,018,500. Expected grants and commitments from our partners have helped raise $873,500 (85.7%) toward the purchase price so far.” The final 14.3% is being raised by the Trust through donation such as ours. That means that the impact of our donation will be multiplied by $7-to-$1
