Lots has happened since my last blog post in February and I’m going to try and catch up.
Our membership drive that ended in Feb was a great success. With Scale 75 USA taking over the online registration and adding a $10 discount to boot really helped. If you haven’t renewed it’s never to late and you will still qualify for the Scale 75 USA discount. Ant new membership of renewal will receive the discount.
As of March 1st Jon Harbuck has stepped down as the Chairman of the Board. Jon has been doing this for a very long time and I’m sure will be missed. Good luck with your future endeavors Jon.
With Jon stepping down the BoD voted in a new Chairman, Kurt Hollar. Kurt has been a member of the APG since I believe almost day one. He has a business background, an avid modeler and a very strong supporter of our mission. Welcome to your new post Kurt and best of luck in the future as the new CoB.
Both the Atlanta and MFCA Shows were profitable for us. Thanks to both clubs for having us and supporting our mission. Our next show )outside of the Gettysburg Exhibit) will be at the National Capital Model Soldier Society Show in Springfield, VA September 30, 2023. https://www.ncmssclub.org/annual-show I encourage everyone to attend. This is a great group of people working very hard to grow the show and the club. Each year it gets bigger and each year we have more fun. I hope to see you there.
Plans for the August Exhibit and Painting Class are solidifying quickly. At last report there was one seat open for the class and still room for models in the exhibit. If you’d like to sign up for the course go to https://scale75usa.com/collections/paint-courses and follow the prompt. If you plan to exhibit you will need to fill out a registration form and submit it to Tom Holtz. https://artistpreservationgroup.com/apg-2023-gettysburg-exhibit-information-and-registration/
I’ve also just been informed that our friend Scott Hartwig will be giving a tour on Sunday morning for APG members and friends. The tour will be the Pickett/Pettigrew Charge route from the Virginia Monument to the High Water Mark. The tour starts at 0900 sharp. For anyone that doesn’t want to walk the mile route you can get the into at the Virginia Monument and then meet us at the High Water Mark for the conclusion. I would plan on spending about 2- 2.5 hours at the event. For more info contact Tom Holtz for details. TomHoltz@Msn.com.
