A few weeks ago the APG was contacted by the Museum of the American Revolution with a request to consider funding conservation of the flag of the 2nd New Hampshire. The flag, captured in 1777 at Ft Anne, NY during the Saratoga Campaign by the 9th Foot, now resides with the New Hampshire Historical Society, It is slated to to be part of an upcoming Museum of the American Revolution Exhibit titled Banners of Liberty: An Exhibition of Original Revolutionary War Flags. The exhibit running from April 14 through August 10 will mark the beginning of the American Revolution featuring a number of flags from our fight for Independence.
At at cost of $25000 the funding of this conservation will be the largest single donation we’ve made in our 19 year history.
From Dr R. Scott Stephenson, Ph.D. President & Chief Executive Officer, Museum of the American Revolution
“I am personally so very grateful for the many years of friendship and support that the Artist Preservation Group and its members have provided to the Museum of the American Revolution. This relationship goes back before the Museum opened and has continued over the past 7+ years that we have been open. Previous APG funding made it possible for us to preserve and present objects that have been viewed by nearly 1.5 million visitors (to date) from across the nation and around the world. With this latest pledge of support to conserve one of the precious few surviving Revolutionary War flags, the APG has come through for us once again. On behalf of the entire Museum, thank you for helping to keep the Spirit of the American Revolution alive!”
