MICHAEL E. HALL, LTC, USA (Ret’d) 1945-2025
On August 23, 2025, the Artist Preservation Group lost one of its original members and most staunch supporters. Lt. Col. Mike Hall, “The Colonel”, was a 23-year veteran of the US Army who earned History degrees from both VMI and The Citadel. He was an avid student of the American wars, and an authority on many battle sites.
Mike was the first Grand Master of the Atlanta Military Figure Society, an accomplished painter, sculptor, and workshop leader. His contributions to the APG included organizing judges at our events, donating original pieces to our auctions, and wisecracking during our battlefield tours.
Mike was a friend and mentor to many artists in the hobby. His gentle sense of humor – often concealed behind a grumpy demeanor – will be sorely missed. The APG’s thanks and best wishes go out to his family.
