For the past few years the APG has made an annual donations become members of the Princeton Battlefield Society at the January 3, 1777 Patriot Member Level. ($1000). After our recent visit during the APG tour in May the Board of Directors voted to make an additional $1000 donation, in addition to our annual donation. The latest donation was made for the up keep of the Thomas Clarke House. The structure, built in 1772, is a white clapboard farm house. This building is central to the Battle of Princeton, fought on January 3rd, 1777, between the Continental Army under the command of General George Washington, and British Crown Forces.
The house also became hospital after the battle taking in both British and American wounded. American General Hugh Mercer died here nine days after the battle from being shot and bayoneted.
The house is in much need of repair. You too can help with a donation by visiting http://theprincetonbattlefieldsociety.com/clarke_house.html.
