APG donates to the American Battlefield Trust for Gettysburg property.

Last week, the APG Board of Directors authorized a donation of $7500 to the ABT for the purchase, restoration, and preservation, of key Pickett/Pettigrew Charge property. The property, currently the site of “General Pickett’s Buffet”, is relocating to a new site off of the battlefield.

From the ABT

“We have an unparalleled preservation opportunity to help save a piece of Gettysburg Battlefield that witnessed monumental points in history, including Pickett’s Charge and two World War camps! The long-time owner of the property has chosen to work with another local businessman to relocate the business several miles away and off the battlefield. We are fortunate that in this process, he approached the Trust about preservation options for the original restaurant site.”

The goal for the ABT is to raise $550,000 between now and December 15 to close the deal. Additionally our donation is receiving a 3-1 match. I think all will agree that this is a great opportunity to preserve this historic land.

I’ve also started a Facebook fundraiser to help us raise part of our donation. Please visit the page and make a donation. You can also find out how your donation could be doubled /https://www.facebook.com/donate/6406001326095707/1315017529336567/

If you’d like to make a donation outside of the Facebook fundraiser you can send directly to the APG via PayPal. Our acct number is infomikeapg@aol.com. Or send a check to APG 1743 Millbridge Rd Salem, VA 24153. Your donation is tax deductible.
